International Open Call – Deadline January 18, 2027

Exhibition in Berlin March 19 – April 30, 2027, Tue. and Fri., 5–8 PM

In a public call for submissions, we invite international artists to submit contributions on the theme described below for a juried group exhibition in our exhibition spaces.

Art Research Group: OCEAN TO HOME! Exhibition “The Sea”, GG3, Berlin, 2019

Forschungsgruppe Kunst: OCEAN TO HOME! Exhibition “The Sea”, GG3, Berlin, 2019

Globally usable freshwater supplies are dwindling. Researchers have declared global water bankruptcy. Water on land and in the sea is polluted with plastic and chemicals; some are forever chemicals. The industry keeps producing new, unknown substances that are found, for example, in the Rhine and pass through wastewater treatment plants. The Spree – from whose bank filtration Berlin draws a significant share of its drinking water – is threatened with carrying considerably less water in the coming years.

What are the alternatives? Who is affected, and who are the actors who can change this?

The exhibition, with its works, is planned and implemented in a resource-saving manner. Artists are requested to specify the percentage of recycled material used in their work. As a team, sustainability is not just our content, but also our practice.

We are accompanying the exhibition with a dialogue-oriented program. Artists as well as external participants are cordially invited to contribute their own ideas for lectures, workshops, readings, or other formats.

Disciplines: object, sculpture, installation, photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, video with credits given, sound is possible. Performative contributions (performance, DJ, concert, or similar) for the opening, artist talk, or closing are expressly welcome.

Individual artists or existing artist groups may apply online with a maximum of three works.

International works: Physical works from the EU, letters and videos also from non-EU countries.

Q and A tenders GG3

Q: Is there a way to review my submission to confirm that it was submitted correctly?
A: This is not necessary if the submission has been accepted in the system and you have received a confirmation e-mail.

Q: Would you recommend submitting only new artwork applications, and if so, will this affect my application?
A: No, it doesn’t matter. The decisive factors are the strong reference to the advertised theme and the artistic quality.

Q: I fail to upload the CV and exhibition list.
A: Only PDF and DOC formats are accepted, max. 10 MB, no DOCX or ODT.

Q: I made a typo. Can I correct my application?
A: No problem, we can correct it after acceptance.

Q: How do I submit multiple works?
A: Complete the first application and call up the form again.

Q: Is it possible to send you an application by e-mail?
A: Due to the jury’s work organisation, it is not possible to submit an application by post or email.
